  1. 01

    Food safety and you

Every person who works with food in the UK has a part to play in keeping customers safe.

  2. 02

    Personal hygiene and illness

You carry bacteria on your hands, skin, hair, nose and mouth. Good habits stop them reaching food.

  3. 03

    Keeping food safe

Food can be contaminated by bacteria, chemicals, objects and allergens.

  4. 04

    Cleaning, waste and pests

A clean workplace gives bacteria and pests nowhere to live.

  5. 05

    Allergens: the basics

A tiny amount of an allergen can cause a serious reaction. Getting it wrong can kill.

Course content based on the Food Safety Act 1990, the food hygiene regulations of the four UK nations and guidance from the Food Standards Agency.
