About HygieneReady

HygieneReady offers online food hygiene courses for people who prepare, cook or serve food in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and for the businesses that employ them.

What does HygieneReady offer?

Every course comes in two versions: one for the UK and one for Ireland. Each version uses that country's law, regulators and examples. Our main course, Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 (Catering), has seven short modules, a quiz after each module and a final exam of 30 questions. Learners who pass with 21 or more get a PDF certificate straight away, with a QR code that links to our verification page. It also comes in Spanish, at no extra cost.

For people in charge of a kitchen there is Food Safety Supervision Level 3 (Catering), and for everyone who serves food, Food Allergen Awareness (Catering). Each has its own exam and certificate.

Food businesses can buy team packs, invite their staff and keep every certificate in one place.

Why did we build it?

Food businesses must make sure their staff are supervised and instructed and/or trained in food hygiene for the work they do. Many people who need that training work shifts, use their phone rather than a computer and need proof of training quickly. We built a course in plain English that works on any phone, takes about 2 to 3 hours and gives a certificate an employer or inspector can check in seconds.

Who writes and checks the courses?

The Level 2 course was written by our founder, who holds a university degree in gastronomy, and was reviewed by a food safety professional before publication. Every course follows the food hygiene rules and the official guidance of each country, and we update the courses when that guidance changes.

What is the certificate, and what is it not?

The certificate confirms that the learner completed the training and passed the exam. It is not a regulated qualification, and HygieneReady is not approved or endorsed by the Food Standards Agency, Food Standards Scotland or the Food Safety Authority of Ireland. UK and Irish law do not require a specific training provider: each food business decides what training its staff need. Our guides explain the rules for the UK and for Ireland.

What does the name mean?

HygieneReady says what we want for every learner: to be ready to handle food safely from their first shift, and for their workplace to be ready for its next inspection.

Who is behind HygieneReady?

HygieneReady is a small independent business, a sole trader business (enkeltpersonforetak) registered in Norway. We started in 2026. Payments and VAT are handled by Stripe.
