The 4 modules

Print the syllabus
  1. 01

    Hazardous substances and the law

Many everyday products at work can harm health: cleaning chemicals, oven cleaners, descalers, disinfectants, dusts, fumes and even flour dust.

  2. 02

Labels, pictograms and safety data sheets

Every hazardous product tells you its dangers, if you know how to read it.

  3. 03

    Controlling exposure

The best way to protect people is to remove the hazard. When that is not possible, a series of controls reduces exposure, with PPE as the last line of defence.

  4. 04

    Spills, accidents and health checks

Even with good controls, accidents happen. Knowing what to do quickly limits the harm.

Course content based on the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 and guidance from the Health and Safety Executive.
